Øystein Greni - Skateboarding

For those of you who haven’t read up on the Bigbang history, it all started with Øystein shelving his skateboard and picking up the guitar. Skateboard zine Tacky.no found some old videos recorded, with pictures of Norwegian skateboarders around those days:

“Øystein Greni was one the 90s, and overall, best Norwegian skater. He was a pro at skateboard brand New Deal and won among other the Euro-championship in vert skating, Antwerp 1991. After that Greni’s knee went to hell, he shelved the skateboard, and picked up the guitar from the closet. After that Bigbang appeared, and the rest is history.”

You can find the video @ this link from tacky.no, another run from Drammen here. As a bonus they also included an old interview (Norwegian) he did in 2003, mostly with questions about his skateboarding, but also some about Bigbang and his music influences.

The series includes videos of other skaters as well. Øysteins old friends Joachim Trier (One Of a Kind’s “For my friend Jo…”) and Alexander Kayambakis (Who did some artwork / design for the early albums) is a couple of the others. You can find all the videos here.
