When my friends, my brother and I came to Roding, the musicians of Big Bang were sitting in the small pub „Gramophone“ doing their sound check. They seemed very relaxed, though there had been some technical problems. It is probably hard to imagine but this pub was so small that it was filled within of less than ten minutes.
At 9 o’clock in the evening they entered the ten centimetres high stage with “Early December”. The closeness to the one hundred people in the room caused a hilarious mood already at the beginning. They continued with some classic songs like “Head over Heals” and “Where the world comes to an end” and obviously showed their joy to play at small venues like this. It also seemed that a lot more people in the crowd knew the songs in contrast to the gig two years ago.
The concert climaxed at the song “Sing and Dance” with “To the mountains”. Only the real hardcore fans knew the “there’s clouds and Germans everywhere, but they’re alright now,
they just don’t know how to dress”-part and this moment was really funny. One incredible solo like I’ve never heard it before on “To the mountains” and a incredible stage presence of the band, above all by Øystein Greni left the crowd in a great mood for the encore.
Øystein returned alone and played a nice electric version of “Right beside you”. Then they finished their concert with the party songs “I don’t wanna” and “Girl in Oslo”.
All in all it was once again an incredible gig and I hope when they come back with “Edendale” released in Germany, they won some more fans. Unfortunately their merchandise was stopped, so we were not able to buy “big bang toilet seats” like Øystein said but I give 4,5 of 5 stars though.
