Bigbang – Electric Psalmbook – 1999-2009
According to CDON.com today is the 10 year anniversary of the release of the Warner version of “Electric Psalmbook”, the bands break trough record and their first on major label (Edit: Warner homepage says 12th, but still close enough ;) ). The album was originally released on their own GrandSport label in March 1999, but was later re-released by Warner after they signed a record deal. The only difference is the two last tracks on the Warner release, bonus tracks “Volume or Tone” and “Wild Bird” live. 10 years after many fans and critics still recon this is one of their best albums..

Bigbang - Electric Psalmbook CD cover
“How Do You Do” has an early ’70s feel to it, as if the song were written by Hendrix and Lynyrd Skynrd, and then performed by a Norwegian trio in 2000 using a Rickenbacker 12-string. The rest of the songs are equally idiosyncratic, off the wall, and refreshing in that it’s a whole new take on music… - Bill Ribas – NY Rock
The second & third tracks, “Something Special” & “Still Have The Time” are stunning examples of the band’s music, & it’s these songs which immediately brought to mind comparisons with XTC. There’s also more traditional rock sounds such as “Make A Circle” & “Long Distance Man”, rounding out an album that has a lot to offer. - Terry Allen – Heard
